The Local Food Global Food project
BEN has received funding from the Big Lottery's Local Food Programme for a 2-year project “Local Food Global Food”.
The project will work across England in partnership with the Federation of City Farms and Community Gardens (FCFCG) to explore ways of linking BME communities with local food growing opportunities and organisations.
It will provide support and training to staff and volunteers at local community food growing projects to reach out and engage effectively with BME groups using healthy heating, cultural celebration and the sharing of knowledge and skills as the main areas of focus.
Local Food Global Food will work with sites in Birmingham, Walsall, Liverpool, Nottingham, Sheffield, Newcastle, Richmond, Burnley, Bradford and Hull, to develop good practice and resource that will be shared across the Federation. This will inform its work with its members in engaging effectively with BME communities, and also inform the activities of other local food growing organisations and initiatives.
Into the future we will be exploring ways in which the project’s legacy will be ongoing, both through embedding this support within both organisations, and sharing through the development of case studies and resources that can be accessed through our websites.
