Reading International Solidarity
Centre turned a leaky roof into an
amazing edible roof garden and
educational resource for teaching
practical skills and raising awareness of
the global links between social, economic
and environmental issues. Using
innovative design based on `Permaculture'
principals, the roof garden – made
entirely from recycled or sustainably
produced materials – is home to 140
fascinating plants, each of which tells a
story about the diversity of climates and
cultures around the world and their
fragile interdependence.
